<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air electrode for a metal-air battery and a metal-air battery having the air electrode capable of improving discharge capacity by being integrated in an metal-air battery. <P>SOLUTION: An air electrode for a metal-air battery contains an air electrode catalyst and a conductive material, and the air electrode catalyst contains layered double hydroxide. The figure shows one example of a lamination structure of the metal-air battery and schematically shows a cross section obtained by cutting it in a lamination direction.
