<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner containing a binder resin having a PLA (polylactic acid) skeleton as a main component, the toner having a shape suitable for cleaning and achieving both of mechanical durability and fixability. <P>SOLUTION: The toner contains at least a colorant and a binder resin and further contains cellulose fiber. The binder resin contains a polyhydroxy carboxylic acid skeleton comprising an optically active monomer; and the polyhydroxy carboxylic acid skeleton derived from the optically active monomer has an optical purity X (%) defined by X(%)=¾X(L-form)-X(D-form)¾ of 90% or less, in terms of the monomer component.
