<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a readout time in operation with commodities on which display of service is restricted. <P>SOLUTION: In a commodity code reader 2, an image data capturing part 51 captures an image photographed by a camera 20. A barcode reader 52 detects a code symbol included in the captured image and reads code information corresponding to the code symbol. A label reader 53 detects display of service included in the captured image and reads service information corresponding to the display of service. A label readout flag setting part 55 sets an object code symbol that is an object on which the label reader 53 performs detection of display of service. A CPU 50 instructs the label reader 53 to perform detection of display of service, when the read out code symbol is the object code symbol.
