<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound carbide which excels heat resistance and corrosion resistance, and is excellent in hydration resistance since carbide has high hardness, low thermal expansion, and high temperature conductivity, and has excellent characteristics of corrosion resistance, heat resistance, wear resistance or the like, and thereby is used in various fields, in recent years, a compound carbide which contains aluminum, carbon, and other elements as a material which has further outstanding characteristics attracts attention, however, when this compound carbide is also exposed to water or water vapor atmosphere for a long period of time or at high temperature, hydration reaction may advance and may change the compound carbide to a hydrate, and there is a problem that the compound carbide cannot be stably used or stored under the condition in which water and water vapor exist. <P>SOLUTION: The compound carbide is characterized by having an oxide film on the surface in the compound carbide containing aluminum, carbon, and other elements.
