PURPOSE: An electrophoretic display device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to eliminate needs of a bonding layer and a protection film for protecting the bonding layer. CONSTITUTION: A thin film transistor is formed on a first substrate(120). A protection layer(124) is formed on the first substrate. A first pixel electrode(118a) is formed on a pixel display area of the protection layer. A partition wall is formed on a non image display area which is on the protection layer. A second pixel electrode(118b) is formed on a sidewall of the partition wall. A unit pixel of the partition wall is filled with an electrophoretic material. A common electrode(142) is formed on the second substrate. The first substrate and a second substrate(140) are bonded.
