EXHAUST GAS PURIFYING CATALYST AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas purifying catalyst wherein a required amount of active metal is little and wherein activity is hardly reduced even if using it for a long period under a high-temperature condition, and to provide a method for producing the same.

SOLUTION: This exhaust gas purifying catalyst is configured by carrying the active metal in a carrier. The carrier includes: BaAl12O19of a bimodal structure having peaks of a pore diameter distribution in a first pore diameter area and a second pore diameter area having a pore diameter larger than the first pore diameter area; and ZrO2. A mass ratio of ZrO2to BaAl12O19is present in a range of 1:0.1-1:20.
