<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner supply device capable of preventing damage to driving means and a driven object caused by driving the driving means in an inappropriate timing, while suppressing occurrence of unnecessary downtime. <P>SOLUTION: A toner container fixing/releasing lever 76Y movable between a locking position for locking a toner container mounted in a container mounting part at its mounting position and a releasing position for releasing the locking, and a lever position sensor 79Y for detecting whether or not the lever is located at the locking position are provided.
