NOVEL PHOTOCATALYST AND PREPARATION METHOD THEREO 5 THE PRESENT INVENTION PROVIDES A METHOD OF PREPARATION OF A PHOTOCATALYST OR MORE PARTICULARLY A DERIVATIVE OF TRIS(DITHIOLENE) COMPOUND WHICH CAN WORK AS A PHOTOCATALYST FOR SEVERAL FIELDS. THE METHOD OF THE PREPARATION OF THE PRESENT INVENTION COMPRISES THREE STEPS, THE FIRST STEP OF THE PREPARATION METHOD IS BENZOIN CONDENSATION FROM 3,S- DIMETHOXYBENZALDEHYDE TO PRODUCE A BENZOIN COMPOUND. THIS IS FOLLOWED BY THE 0 FORMATION OF THICIESTER, OR MORE PARTICULARLY 1,2-DITHIOPHOSPHATE FROM THE REACTION OF THE BENZOIN COMPOUND WITH PHOSPHORUS PENTASUFFIDE, AND FINALLY THE REACTION OF 1,2- DITHIOPHOSPHATE WITH A TRANSITION METAL SALT TO PRODUCE THE TRIS(DITHIOLENE) COMPOUND. IN THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT, THE TRIS(DITHIOLENE) COMPOUND IS TRIS{1,2-BIS(3,5- DIMETHOXYLPHENEYL)-1,2-ETHYLENODITHIOLENIC-S,S'I TUNGSTEN. THE PRESENT INVENTION ALSO 5 PROVIDES A PHOTOCATALYST, WHICH IS A NOVEL DERIVATIVE OF TRIS(DITHIOLENE) COMPOUND WHICH IS PRESENTED BY A FORMULA OF ML3WHERE M IS A TRANSITION METAL PREFERABLY TUNGSTEN AND L IS THE THIOESTER LIGAND. THE PREFERRED TRIS(DITHIOLENE) DERIVATIVE COMPOUND PRODUCED IN THIS PRESENT INVENTION IS TRISFL,2-BIS(3,5-DIRNETHOXYLPHENYL)-1,2-ETHYLENODITHIOLENIC- S,S'J TUNGSTEN. 0 |
