<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multicore superconducting wire rod, the current-carrying capacity of which can be increased as the superconducting wire rod by sufficiently suppressing the current loss owing to a self-magnetic field produced by superconducting filaments. <P>SOLUTION: A multicore superconducting wire rod has: a metal pipe; a plurality of superconducting filaments embedded in the metal pipe; and a high magnetic permeability material layer formed on the outer peripheral surface and/or inner peripheral surface of the metal pipe and having a relative magnetic permeability of 100 H/m or larger. The high magnetic permeability material layer is made up of a high magnetic permeability material including iron. The high magnetic permeability material layer is also formed on the outer peripheral surface of each superconducting filament. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
