<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength conversion device and a method for wavelength conversion that converts a wavelength of signal light into an arbitrary wavelength thereof without depending on a modulation system of the signal light. <P>SOLUTION: A wavelength conversion device comprises a first nonlinear medium which outputs, based on an optical power of a signal light input, the signal light having a longer wavelength than the wavelength of the signal light input thereto, a second nonlinear medium which outputs a signal light having a wavelength based on the wavelength of the signal light input and a wavelength of light input from a light source, the first nonlinear medium and the second nonlinear medium are arranged so as to be input an output from one of the first nonlinear medium or the second nonlinear medium to the other one, and the input signal light input to the own device is converted the wavelength thereof to output as an output signal light. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
