<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery manufacturing method, by which in a battery with a porous layer formed on a surface of at least one of an electrode and a separator, exfoliation of the porous layer can be suppressed further. <P>SOLUTION: The battery manufacturing method that the invention offers is a method for manufacturing a battery with a porous layer including inorganic filler and binder and formed on a surface of at least one of an electrode and a separator. The battery manufacturing method includes: a first dispersion step (S12) for mechanically dispersing inorganic filler in solvent thereby to form an inorganic filler coating material; a second dispersion step (S14) for mechanically dispersing binder in the inorganic filler coating material thereby to form a coating material for porous layer formation; and a step (S20) for applying the coating material for porous layer formation to a surface of at least one of an electrode and a separator and drying it thereby to form a porous layer.
