<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a thick steel plate by which the thick steel plate of high quality is obtained in the production of the thick steel plate by supplying a heated steel slab to a reversing rolling mill as a material to be rolled. <P>SOLUTION: When water-cooling the material 13 to be rolled by jetting high-pressure water to the surface of the material 13 to be rolled from a high-pressure water jetting device 17 provided as an accessory of the reversing rolling mill 14, the surface temperature before the water cooling of the material 13 to be rolled is measured by a thermometer 18 provided on the outlet side of the reversing rolling mill 14 or a thermometer 19 provided on the outlet side or the inlet side of the reversing rolling mill 14, and then, the surface temperature before the water cooling is compared with the preset upper limit value to detect the longitudinal-direction high-temperature area of the material to be rolled of which the surface temperature before the water cooling is higher than the upper limit value. The material 13 is water-cooled by controlling the high-pressure water jetting device 17 so that high-pressure water is jetted only to the detected high-temperature area. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
