The method for detecting the partial discharges generated in an electric system (1) comprises detecting at least a first signal (28) indicative of the partial discharges at a first location of the electric system (1), detecting at least a second signal (29) indicative of the partial discharges at a second location of the electric system (1), comparing the first and the second signals (28, 29) to ascertain whether a defect originating them is located within a rotating electric machine (3) or a bus duct (4) of the electric system (1).
