The present invention relates to a catalyst for synthesizing methanol from synthesis gas and a preparation method thereof, and more specifically to a catalyst for synthesizing methanol from synthesis gas and a preparation method thereof, wherein the catalyst for synthesizing methanol from synthesis gas is a novel catalyst which comprises: Cu-An-Al-based oxides containing CuO, ZnO and Al2O3 in a certain ratio or Cu-Zn-Al-Zr-based oxides containing CuO, ZnO, Al2O3 and ZrO2 in a certain ratio; and a cerium-zirconium oxide support prepared by a sol-gel method. Compared with a conventional methanol synthesis catalyst using Cu-An-Al base alone, the catalyst according to the present invention suppresses the generation of by-products and thus improves the yield of methanol, and thereby can greatly improve the efficiency of methanol purification and carbon conversion. |
