Disclosed is a wireless communication system in which: a transmission device (101) transmits a transmission stream to a reception device (103) and transmits a transmission stream having a lower number of streams than the number of streams transmitted to the reception device (103) to a relay device (102); a relay device (102) receives a signal containing the streams transmitted by the transmission device (101), amplifies the received signal, and transmits the amplified signal to the reception device; and a reception device (103) receives all of the streams transmitted to the reception device (103) from the relay device (102) and the transmission device (101), and decodes the transmission stream. Thus provided is a wireless communication system between a transmission device and a reception device having good characteristics, even without the arrangement of multiple relay devices.
