Apparatus to couple field devices to a controller in a process control system has sockets 202a, 202b which receive termination modules 124a-c, where each of the termination modules 124a-c is coupled to at least one field device in a process control system. A communication bus interface 208 coupled to the sockets 202a, 202b communicates first field device information associated with one of the termination modules 124a-c and second field device information associated with a second one of the termination modules 124a-c.
