PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a paperboard excellent in size capable of avoiding scale trouble and pitch trouble in a papermaking system.SOLUTION: The method for producing a paperboard includes performing papermaking using a pulp slurry having (1) pH6.5-8.5, (2) 50-400 ppm alkalinity and (3) 50-250 mS/m electroconductivity, and adding (4) an emulsion sizing agent in which a substituted succinic anhydride is emulsified and dispersed by a starch graft polymer to the pulp slurry, where the starch graft polymer consists of cationic starch containing 85% or more of amylopectin and monomers containing (meth)acrylamide. |
