PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a secondary cell superior in mass-productivity by interposing an insulating cover for electrical separation (insulation) between a cell can and a power generating element group, between the cell can and the power generating element group inexpensively without forming wrinkles, twist, rubbing or the like in the power generating element group and an insulating cover.SOLUTION: The secondary cell has: the rectangular parallelepiped cell can to have an opening part; a cell lid to seal the opening part of the cell can; the power generating element group arranged in a space demarcated by the cell can and the cell lid; and the insulating cover to electrically insulate between the cell can and the power generating element group. The insulating cover has: the bottom part opposed to the opening part of the cell can and to have four sides; side face parts formed along at least two opposing sides of the four sides of the bottom face part; and bent parts installed so that boundaries between the bottom face part and the side face parts are bent corresponding to insertion of the power generating element group into the cell can.
