PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve favorable blur correction and acquire images of which resolution deterioration in the peripheral area is not visually recognized by a user.SOLUTION: A digital camera includes: a blur correction means which include at least one of a blur correction optical system and an image pickup element displacing in a plane crossing the optical axis of an image pickup optical system and corrects blur of the image of an object; a drive means which drives the blur correction optical system or the image pickup element in a drive range of either a first drive range or a second drive range that is wider than the first drive range; a division photometric means which detects the intensity for each of a plurality of regions; and a setup means which, based on the detected intensity, sets the drive range to the second drive range if it estimates that the brightness when imaging the second region as the peripheral region of the first region including the center of an imaging screen is lower than predetermined brightness and which sets the drive region to the first drive range if it estimates that the brightness of the second region when imaging is higher than the predetermined brightness. |
