PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rolling mill which rolls a slab of high quality in excellent productivity while inhibiting defects caused by contact to a conveying roll. SOLUTION: The rolling mill 10 includes: a plurality of the conveying rolls 12, 13 on which a slab 11 is placed and reciprocated; and a lateral pair of vertical rolls 19, 20 for rolling the slab 11 reciprocating on the conveying rolls 12, 13 in the width direction of the slab 11 and a vertical pair of horizontal rolls 23, 24 for rolling the slab 11 in the thickness direction of the slab 11. The rolling mill further includes a reduced-diameter portion 27 which is provided on both sides in the width direction of the conveying roll 13 disposed between the vertical rolls 19, 20 and between the horizontal rolls 23, 24, wherein the reduced-diameter portion is diametrically reduced than the center portion 26 in the width direction of the conveying roll 13 in contact to the lower surface 28 of the slab 11, inhibiting the slab 11 from contact to the projecting portion 18 in the thickness direction of the slab 11 when the slab 11 is rolled in its width direction between the vertical rolls 19, 20.
