A mixer (10) for insertion into a rotor of a centrifuge has a mixing trough (11) and an obstacle device (12) with at least one obstacle (9a, 9b). The at least one obstacle (9a, 9b) is configured in order to influence a flow of a liquid (15) present in the mixing trough (11). In response to a rotation of the rotor, with a specified incorporation of the mixer (10) in a mount of a rotor, a distance between at least one wall section (14) of the mixing trough (11) and the obstacle device (12) is variable such that the liquid (15) present in the mixing trough (11) flows around the obstacle (9a, 9b) of the obstacle device (12).
