The embodiments of the present invention provide a data processing method and device for a communication device. The communication device includes a standby module and multiple main modules. The multiple main modules include a first main module and a second main module. The data processing method for the communication device includes the following steps: the second main module receives and stores the first key data of the first main module which is transmitted from the first main module; when determining that the first main module fails, the second main module transmits the first key data of the first main module to the standby module storing the second key data of the first main module. The embodiments of the present invention increase the amount of the key data backed up for each main module and improve the ability of backing up the key data of the main module.
