<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which a patch image of toner formed between adjoining two transfer materials can be supplied selectively to a blade of the intermediate transfer body and to a blade of the secondary transfer means through a simple structure. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises; an image forming means corresponding to each of a plurality of image carriers; the intermediate transfer body to which a toner image formed on at least one image forming means is transferred; the secondary transfer means which transfers the toner image that has been transferred on the intermediate transfer member onto a transfer material; a cleaning blade provided on the intermediate transfer member and the secondary transfer means, respectively; a bias power source which is electrically connected to the secondary transfer means; and a control means. The image forming apparatus forms a patch toner image onto a non-image area on the image carrier corresponding to an area between adjoining two transfer materials and supplies the patch toner image to the secondary transfer means. The control means controls the bias power source to conduct a power control in synchronization with a position moving timing of the patch toner image, to supply selectively the patch image to the intermediate transfer member and the secondary transfer means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
