PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic light-emitting element that is extremely highly efficient and emits highly luminant light. SOLUTION: The organic light-emitting element includes an anode, a cathode and an organic compound layer sandwiched between the anode and the cathode, where at least one layer of the organic compound layers comprises an iridium complex represented by formula (1) (wherein Ir is a monovalent iridium ion; X is a substituted or unsubstituted alkylene group, a substituted or unsubstituted alkenylene group or a substituted or unsubstituted arylene group; and R<SB>1</SB>-R<SB>4</SB>are each a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group or a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group).
