<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maximize filtration/protection from embolization of tissue pieces generated during medical procedures. <P>SOLUTION: A distal protection device deployable in a blood vessel of a human includes a filter basket 12 which can be disposed at a preferred axial position in a vessel, and a loop 28 of a radially self-expanding material attached to the proximal end of basket 12 and connected thereto. The filter basket 12 has a closed tip and the open proximal end. The loop 28 is adapted to maintain the proximal end of filter basket 12 to be open. When capturing tissue pieces generated from a diseased blood vessel during medical procedures within human vasculature, an opening of the filter basket provided in the distal protection device for a catheter has the maximum installation area even in a tortuous human blood vessel. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
