Disclosed is an electric power steering device (10) capable of applying a prescribed steering assist force to a steering assembly (18), even when a torque sensor (20) is out of order and the electric power steering device (10) is in a state of being unable to sense steering torque (Tr) by the torque sensor (20). Using an angle of rotation (?r) of a rotating element (23), which is detected by a resolver (58) that serves as a rotating element angle of rotation sensing unit of a motor (24), a steering angle (?s) and a steering angular velocity (?s') are estimated, and a prescribed steering assist force is applied to a steering assembly (18) by the motor (24), on the basis of an estimated steering angle (?sc) and/or an estimated steering angular velocity (?sc').
