摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for oxidizing an organic compound contained in a mixed gas containing the organic compound, hydrogen chloride and oxygen in a high conversion rate. SOLUTION: There is provided a method for oxidizing an organic compound contained in a mixed gas containing the organic compound, hydrogen gas, and oxygen by the oxygen wherein the reaction is performed in the presence of a catalyst containing titanium oxide of a ruthenium content of 0.1 wt.% or lower. The titanium oxide is desirably one containing anatase crystal form titanium oxide. This method is advantageously applied to the case in which the organic compound is at least one member selected from the group consisting of an aliphatic hydrocarbon, a chlorinated aliphatic hydrocarbon, and phosgene.
