PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce tracking errors by discriminating whether an object is stopped or missed. SOLUTION: An object detection device and an object detection method are described as follows: radio wave arrival possibility information showing whether a radio wave can arrive or not, and Doppler information showing whether a Doppler effect exists or not are recorded correlatively in each of a plurality of divided ranges acquired by dividing a monitoring domain of a radar device for detecting an object by utilizing the Doppler effect; an object detected in the last time and an object detected this time are correlated together by using tracking information showing a tracking result of the object detected in the last time and detection information showing a detection result of the object detected this time; a divided range including the object detected in the last time is detected on reference to position information included in the tracking information of the object detected in the last time which is an object whose tracking processing is suspended; it is determined whether the radio wave can arrive or not and whether the Doppler effect exists or not in the divided range; and it is determined whether the object detected in the last time is stopped or not.
