PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To economically obtain a weld joint excellent in characteristics of brittle fracture resistance. SOLUTION: The weld joint has a chemical composition containing, by mass%, 0.01-0.2% C, 0.01-1.0% Si, 0.1-2.0% Mn,≤0.007% P,≤0.002% S,≤0.10% Al, and the balance Fe with impurities, and is obtained by welding a base material having a tensile strength of≥780 MPa. In the weld joint excellent in characteristics of brittle fracture resistance, a tensile strengthσ<SB>TW</SB>(MPa) of a weld metal and a tensile strengthσ<SB>TB</SB>(MPa) of the base material satisfy formula (1): 938+2,000(σ<SB>TW</SB>/σ<SB>TB</SB>)≤3.05σ<SB>TB</SB>.
