PURPOSE: An air conditioning device and operation method thereof are provided to minimize a waste of labor and a waste of time since an air conditioning device diagnoses the state of a hot gas valve and informs the outside. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioning device comprises a freezing cycle circuit, a hot gas bypass path, a hot gas valve(6), a control unit(60) and an information output unit(70). The freezing cycle circuit comprises a compressor, an outdoor heat exchanger, an expansion unit and an indoor heat exchanger. Refrigerant circulates in the freezing cycle circuit. The hot gas bypass path guides hot gas of the high-pressure side of the freezing cycle circuit to the low-pressure side of the freezing cycle circuit. The hot gas valve is installed on the hot gas bypass path. If pressure difference between the low- and high-pressure sides of the freezing cycle circuit is beyond a reference range after the freezing cycle circuit becomes stable and an ON signal is input to the hot gas valve, the control unit outputs that the hot gas valve is out of order.
