PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive hollow screw shaft which is suitable for being formed into a long shape. SOLUTION: A barrel part 2 having a hollow part 6 of a shape corresponding to a spiral blade 5 is formed separately from shaft parts 3, 4, and includes a plurality of screw components 7 formed by casting and external processing and axially coupled to one another. Thus, a hollow screw shaft can be inexpensively manufactured without machining an inside part of the blade 5 of the barrel part 2. The barrel part 2 can be used without trouble caused from residue of a piece of a core even when being formed into a long shape by setting a length of each screw component 7 to a dimension allowing easy removal of a piece of a core from the hollow part after casting thereof.
