The cable (1) has an outer surface (1a) with abrasion resisting areas (2) provided with monofilaments (4) and areas (3) provided with multifilament wires (5), where the cable is coated with a polyurethane based abrasion resisting coating (6). The monofilaments are arranged in the abrasion resisting areas such that the monofilaments are projected with respect to the areas on the outer surface. The resisting areas define external upper diameter higher than external lower diameter determined by the areas. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a cable.
