PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide techniques of preventing the accuracy of image correction for ambient light from being degraded due to the effect of an image displayed by an image display apparatus.

SOLUTION: The display device displays an image by using an image projector. The display device includes: an estimator adapted to, when the image projector is displaying the image, estimate ambient second light information obtained by excluding effect of display of the image on an installation environment of the image display apparatus from fist ambient light information acquired by an acquirer adapted to acquire information of ambient light under the installation environment of the image display apparatus; a corrector adapted to correct an image signal input to the image projector using the second ambient light information estimated by the estimator; and a converter adapted to convert the image signal corrected by the corrector into chrominance signals to drive the image projector.
