PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of forming a bright multilayer coating film having a special design, in which a color phase changes continuously in similar colors of blue from a color phase of sky-blue system to a color phase of Armenian blue system according to a viewing angle, and further, which not only coruscates with a high colorfulness in case of viewing from the front face of an coated article, that is, in a highlight part, but also can coruscate with a high colorfulness in the case of viewing from the skew of the coated article, that is, also in a shade part. SOLUTION: The method of forming the bright multilayer coating film comprises forming a bright base coating film layer on a substrate on which a ground coat layer is formed and further forming a clear coating layer thereon. The concentration of a brilliant pigment and a color pigment, and a particle diameter are prescribed such that the bright multilayer coating film have a predetermined color phase, lightness, and chroma in the Munsell color system.
