PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an encoding device that can make a reproducing device reproduce higher quality 3D graphics video images in combination with video images represented by a video stream.

SOLUTION: The encoding device encodes a stereoscopic view video image and a planar view video image to a series of picture data. When encoding the stereoscopic view video image, the video image of one view point is encoded to main-view picture data, and the video image of the other view point is encoded to sub-view picture data by referring to the main-view picture data. When encoding the planar view video image, the planar view video image is encoded to the main-view picture data, and the same planar view video image is encoded to the sub-view picture data by referring to the main-view picture data.
