PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming cutting assist lines for forming two cutting assist lines such that a film is securely cut into two, and receiving materials. SOLUTION: In the method for forming cutting assist lines, groove-shaped assist lines 11a, 11b, 16a, 16b are formed on films F1, F2 by melting the films F1, F2 by applying ultrasonic wave to a phone 200 with the films F1, F2 which are a packaging material packaging articles to be packaged or constitute the packaging material sandwiched by the phones 200 applied with the ultrasonic wave of a predetermined frequency and the receiving materials. In the receiving materials, the width in at least one direction of distal end part 212 sandwiching the films F1, F2 along with the phones 200 is formed narrower when coming to the distal end, the films F1, F2 is sandwiched between the phones 200 and the receiving materials 210, the ultrasonic wave is applied to the phones 200, the two cutting assist lines 11a, 11b, and two cutting assist lines 16a, 16b are formed extending in a direction perpendicular to the width direction of the distal end part 212 of the receiving materials 210 on the films F1, F2 to cross or contact in middle parts.
