PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color electroluminescent display device by a method that is high in cost-efficiency and operationally effective. SOLUTION: A color electroluminescent display device includes a novel sub-pixel structure. The sub-pixel structure has: an electroluminescent phosphor emitting blue light; and a photoluminescent phosphor emitting at least one other color as a result of absorption of the blue light.
