A refrigerated vehicle (2; 4; 6; 8) having at least one refrigerated compartment (10) comprises a refrigeration unit and at least one electrical power supply (60, 64). The refrigeration unit has a first module (14) mounted on the exterior of a refrigerated compartment (10), and which comprises: a compressor (28) having motor hermetically disposed therein, the motor being electrically connected to the at least one electrical power supply (64); a condenser heat exchanger (30); and at least one condenser fan assembly (42). The refrigeration unit also comprises a second module (16) mounted on the interior of a refrigerated compartment (10), and which comprises: an evaporator heat exchanger (50); and at least one evaporator fan assembly (52).
