Battery powered vehicle typically homologated for road use, but not exclusively, includes an electronic differential which controls independent rear in-wheel drive motors 1, allowing riding platform 2 to be located below the centre of the rear wheels, providing low centre of gravity and ergonomic user step-up from ground level, facilitating accurate 360 degree turning circle and stable, steep incline ascent without wheel spin or wheel scrub. To prevent flipping over backwards, or sideways on steeply angled surfaces the vehicle incorporates an anti-flip electronic orientation chip 3, which senses the angle the vehicle is being driven and which is programmed to reduce, or shut off, the power to both rear wheels either together, or independently working in conjunction with the motor controller 4. Other characteristics and features of the control system are disclosed.
