The tube (1) has a housing (10) with a light transmitting cover through which the light from the housing is transmitted to the atmosphere, and a set of LEDs (4) e.g. organic LED, arranged on a side of a printed circuit board facing the cover. An electric rectifier unit (16) supplies direct current to the LEDs and is integrated in an adapter (5), such that the voltage supply from a ballast (11) of a fluorescent tube is transformed to an LED voltage supply (17) adapted to the LEDs. An LED-supply program is implemented in a control unit (15) of the adapter.
