PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an impulse current generating device that can prevent current cutting in a wave tail section of the impulse current without raising a charging voltage of capacitor by improving a conventional RLC circuit system impulse current generating device. SOLUTION: The impulse current generating device includes a capacitor 4, an inductance 8, a resistance 10 and discharge gap device 30a that are mutually connected in series between output terminals 20 and 22 connected with a load 12. and direct current charging circuit 2 charging the capacitor 4. Furthermore, the discharge gap device 30a includes a fixed electrode 32, a movable electrode 34, and electrode driving device 36 for bringing the movable electrode 34 into contact with the fixed electrode 32 by driving the movable electrode toward the fixed electrode 32.
