PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high frequency heating cooking device detecting a size of food to be heated, detecting a suitable temperature distribution in accordance with the detected size, and causing no detection delay to prevent overheating. SOLUTION: In the high frequency heating cooking device, a detection control means 15 controls a temperature distribution detection means 9 to detect a temperature distribution of a detectable maximal range in a heating early stage, and from the middle of the heating, narrows a temperature detection range to detect a temperature distribution only for necessary points according to a detected temperature of the temperature distribution detection means 9.
