The engine (1) has an exhaust gas recirculation pipe (8) equipped with a valve (9), a heat dissipator (10) and a recycled gas rate control valve (11). A heat dissipator bypass line (12) is equipped with a valve (13) and connected to the pipe (8) behind the dissipator and in front of the valve (11). A temperature sensor (19) measures the temperature of recycled exhaust gas before the gas is mixed with air admitted in the engine. A regulation unit (16) regulates the temperature of the recycled gas by proportional action on the valves (9, 13) based on set point temperature of the recycled gas. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling an internal combustion engine. |
