摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain high reliability and cost reduction by reducing component cost and power consumption and performing light output level control of a highly accurate transponder portion. <P>SOLUTION: The transponder portion 3 includes: an LD 12 for emitting an optical signal; a SOA 13 for optically amplifying an optical signal emitted by the LD 12; a wavelength detecting portion 14 for detecting a wavelength and a light level from the optical signal optically amplified by the SOA 13; a control portion 16 for controlling the LD 12 and the SOA 13 on the basis of the wavelength and light level detected by the wavelength detecting portion 14; and an external modulator 15 for transmitting the optical signal optically amplified by the SOA 13 to an optical multiplexer/demultiplexer 2, wherein the optical multiplexer/demultiplexer 2 includes an ON/OFF function portion 8 for transmitting or interrupting the optical signal transmitted from the external modulator 15 on the basis of the wavelength and light level of the optical signal detected by the wavelength detecting portion 14; and an ADD part 7 for multiplexing the optical signal transmitting the ON/OFF function portion 8 and transmitting the optical signal to a transmission path. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
