PURPOSE: A method for controlling combustion is provided to reduce the discharged amount of exhaust gas by maintaining an IMEP coefficient of variation under a standard coefficient of variation. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling combustion is as follows. The combustion pressure of an engine is measured through a pressure sensor(S1). An engine controller confirms whether the combustion pressure is within the rated output range of the engine(S2). If the combustion pressure of the engine is out of the rated output range, an Indicated Mean Effective Pressure coefficient of variation is calculated through the combustion pressure(S3).
