PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an autofocus system including a face recognition tracking function of preventing an unintended object from being tracked by object tracking, in face recognition tracking for tracking a face of a specific person detected by face recognition processing by means of an AF frame by using the object tracking. SOLUTION: In a recognition tracking mode for automatically tracking the face of the specific person storing authentication data in advance, by means of the AF frame, the face of the specific person designated by an operator is detected, from a photographic image captured from a television camera, by the face recognition processing (S56). Thereafter, the image of the face is set as a reference pattern, and is detected from the photographic image by pattern matching to be used in the object tracking, and the AF frame is moved to the detection position.
