POLYSACCHARIDE EXTRACTED FROM STARFISH FOR SUPPRESSION OF NITRIC OXIDE PRODUCTION IN CANCER CELLS

摘要

PURPOSE: A starfish-derived polysaccharide extract is provided to suppress NO generation in colon cancer cells and breast cancer cells. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing and treating colon cancer or breast cancer contains starfish-derived polysaccharides as an active ingredient. A method for evaluating cancer suppression comprises: a step of preparing the polysaccharides; a step of adding the polysaccharides to colon cancer cell line HT-29 and breast cancer cell line MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 and treating with TPA to induce iNOS; and a step of measuring generated NO content.
