The device has a base (1) permitting adjustment of a horizontal planar sundial. The base supports a yoke (2) around a vertical axis materialized by the base. Circular housings are provided with screws (11) for fixing the yoke in a position. The yoke carries a stepped pin (4) around which bearer plates (3) are articulated. The bearer plates are supported on a support (6) fixed to a reading table (12). The support has an inclined surface which is perpendicular to the sundial. A frame assures centering of the reading table on a pedestal (8).
