PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: though with the improvement of the cohesive force of a medium, demagnetization in high-density recording is reduced and high-density recording characteristics are improved, the ability of a write head is limited, so that an excessively high cohesive force makes saturation recording difficult, which makes it difficult to obtain high output. SOLUTION: Hexagonal ferrite magnetic powder shows large temperature dependence of the coercive force by the composition. Thus, recording is performed at high temperatures where the cohesive force becomes smaller than at reproduction and reproduction is performed almost at the room temperature where cohesive force becomes larger, thereby obtaining excellent high-density recording characteristics.
