The method involves processing data of a raster graphics by one of printing images along an image processing axis (BA) of the raster graphics for avoiding a register error, where the image processing axis corresponds to a shrinking axis (SA). Control data is formed from the raster graphics. Target-bit maps (31) are calculated from adjacent source-bit maps (30) according to a pre-determined calculation rule. A portion of the processed target-and source bit maps along the image processing axis corresponds to a deformation factor. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for correction of the register error in the printing process (2) a computer program product for correction of the register error in the printing process.
